Forty years at the easel

I started drawing when I was ten. By eighteen, I was doing it professionally, and I haven’t stopped since. Every portrait that leaves my studio is drawn or painted by hand, start to finish — no software, no filters standing in for skill.

That’s not a marketing line. It’s the whole point. A hand-painted portrait holds the small imperfections that make it feel alive: the pressure of a pencil stroke, the texture of oil paint catching light. That’s something a printer can’t fake and an algorithm can’t invent.

Work that means something to someone

I paint families, kids, pets, couples — the people and animals that matter to you. I also take on cars, buildings, and other subjects when the story calls for it. Every piece starts with your photos and a conversation about what you want captured, not just copied.

Before the portraits, the billboards

From 1986 to 1990, I hand-painted movie and album billboards in Los Angeles — the kind that went up over Sunset Boulevard. It’s a strange, one-of-a-kind chapter, and it’s part of why I paint the way I do today.

How it works, simply

You send me photos and tell me what you’re picturing. I give you a quote. Once we agree, I get to work — most pieces take three to four weeks. I ship nationally, and if you’re near Lexington, South Carolina, you can pick up in person.
